Pocket Vertical Planter that’s… Horizontal?

The Vertical Planter that's Horizontal? Here’s a vertical garden that’s just a little different. Yes, it hangs vertically, but instead of being a long, tall planter – it’s a wide, horizontal planter, that hangs vertically (if that makes sense).

Where Do You Put It?

This pocket planter is perfect for areas such as porch railings, outside windows (like a window box, pocket-style) or along a wall or fence where you prefer a garden that spreads across rather than down. If you have limited backyard space, this can work well.

Of course, lining up several of these pocket planters one above the other is an easy way to create a living wall too. Some people even use them on chain link fences to add some privacy, a little greenery and, well, a nicer looking fence.

How Do You Hang It?

The pocket comes with sturdy metal grommets. You can attach it a variety of ways, depending on what you want to attach it to. One option is to hang the grommets on hooks, nails or screws. Another way to do it is use zip-ties (these work best on something like a chain link fence).

Is it Really Only 1 Pocket?

The “Pocket” (yes, this item is labeled as a 1-pocket planter) actually is divided into 4 sections. But it is technically one pocket.

What’s the Size?

Easy. 42″ long.

What Do I Like About It?

Pocket Planter in the KitchenIn short, I’m a big fan of pocket planters. They are un-complicated, easy to hang and lightweight.

These pockets are designed from recycled material (plastic bottles actually!), so you can feel guilt-free about using them.

They are super easy and convenient, making gardening a lot more fun because there are less hassles to deal with. If you’re trying to decide whether or not to try out vertical gardening, pocket planters are the way to go because they require less work and are not so intimidating as other types of bigger, heavier and bulkier containers.

They are made with a breathable felt fabric that somehow retains moisture but keeps excess water away from plants. (I don’t know exactly how it works, but it does.)

This way, plants are less likely to suffer from over-watering or under-watering. Healthier plants means a better-looking garden with less work, and I’m all for that. It’s a brilliant concept, especially for those of us who aren’t the best gardeners in the world.

On top of that, these have a waterproof backing, so you can also use them indoors. They make great herb gardens and office planters – of if you want to add some life to a bathroom, they look cool there too.

Mix-and-Match?

Mix and Match Pocket PlantersThis product is part of the vertical grow bag line from Invigorated Living. They make different sizes and shapes of these pocket planters, so you can mix and match different types to custom-fit them to your space.

Since they essentially have the same look and feel, using different sizes together doesn’t look out-of-place.
